Small Business Saturday was started by American Express in 2010, and since it’s inception, U.S. customers have reported spending an estimated total of $85 billion at independent retailers and restaurants. Last year, it is estimated that 108 million shoppers came out to shop and dine at small businesses on Small Business Saturday.
