Where: Champs Sports Bar
Time: 4:30-8:30pm
Info: Athletes come to Walworth County Special Olympics from the Vocational Industries
Program as well as Inspiration Ministries (an assisted living facility for people with
special needs).
Lakeland School (a public school for those with special needs through Grade 12) has a
pretty awesome Special Olympics Program of its own. But, once their students
graduate, they can no longer continue with Lakeland’s program.
So, as graduation time approaches a letter is sent to the graduating class to let them
know they still have “someplace to go” and that all are warmly welcomed into the Adult
Program.
Walworth County Adult Special Olympics began with 7 athletes and the only sport was
basketball. Today, Walworth County Adult Special Olympics is proud to have over 160
athletes and a number of sports in addition to basketball: They are Track and Field;
Bowling; Aquatics; Tennis; Volley Ball and Corn Ball.
All monies raised go towards uniforms; equipment; medical kits; venue fees and
transportation to competitions, including bus transportation and lodging.
The athletes are always happy to be included and to participate, and our fundraiser
plays a major role in making their happiness and joy continue.
