The 1920s Speakeasy at the Maxwell Mansion

The 1920's Speakeasy is located beneath the Maxwell Mansion.  It's a fun place to hang out, if you're lucky enought to get in.  It's only on most Friday's and for special events. You might find it open after the Cabaret Shows at the Mansion. There's an unassuming entrance, rough and edgy swanky rooms and typically people in costumes from the 20's.  It's a one-of-a-kind experience!

The Maxwell Mansion is a European style Inn located 1 block from Geneva Lake. Recently acquired by the owners of the luxury Baker House, this historically significant Italianate Mansion offers clean and charming rooms for both overnight accommodations and extended stay vacations. All beautifully appointed rooms have private spa bathrooms and luxurious finishes. The Inn boasts an intimate library, fire-lit receiving room, crystal ballroom, perennial gardens, 1880's Apothecary Bar and 1920's Speakeasy, all of which are available for unique events, family reunions and corporate retreats. Murder Mystery events, Open Mic Nights and Cabaret Shows are offered periodically thoughout the year.

Built in 1855, this mansion, originally named The Oaks, was among the first summer homes built in the area. It was first occupied in 1856 by Dr. Phillip Maxwell, a prominent Chicago surgeon and real estate prospector, and at the time, was lakefront property on Geneva Lake. This historic mansion is a Lake Geneva treasure!
