Learn to Program and Fly a Drone

The Yerkes Obseratory camps are amazing. I began attending these camps when I was in 4th grade and participated every year through 8th grade. While I enjoyed all the camps, my favorite was the Tech camp, which is for 6th through 8th graders. Being able to work with technology, including programming and electronics, helped me understand that I'd like to pursue a career in STEM in the future. The program is led by scientists from the University of Chicago and being able to work along side them is life changing.

In 2018, Drone camps will be introduced and I wish I was still in 8th grade so I could participate. The four day camps are offered in the summer at the observatory in Williams Bay. As a bonus, the kids are invited to a Star Party on one night during the week where they get the opportunity to look through the telescope and see the stars and planets. I highly recommend this camp to everyone. For more information, go to http://www.yerkesoutreach.org/summer-camps-brochure.html.
